

Royal Academy of Dance Mission Statement
"The Royal Academy of Dance promotes knowledge, understanding and
practice of dance internationally. We seek to accomplish our mission through
promoting dance, educating and training students and teachers, and providing
examinations to reward achievement."
In this Code the standard of conduct and professional practice that the
Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) requires of its Registered Teachers is explained.
The Code is binding. Failure to uphold the Code of Conduct and Professional
Practice could result in the loss of Registered Teacher Status of the RAD.
Principles
1. Integrity
| 1.1 | The RAD expects its
Registered Teachers to behave with integrity in all professional and
business judgements, through honesty, fair dealing, courtesy and consideration
for other dance professionals, organizations, students and their families. |

| 1.2 | Registered Teachers
must use only the title, description or designators to which s/he
is entitled. |
2. Competence
| 2.1 | Registered Teachers
must maintain up-to-date knowledge, understanding and skills relevant
to the profession and be able to teach dance effectively. |

| 2.2 | Registered Teachers
are required to teach consistently to a high standard and to encourage
students to have high aspirations and expectations. |

| 2.3 | Registered Teachers are required to engage in Continuing Professional Development in order to maintain up-to-date knowledge, understanding and skills to respond to developments in the dance profession. |
3. Professionalism
Registered Teachers
must maintain and enhance the good reputation of the RAD and support
the Mission of the Academy. |
4. Compliance
| 4.1 | The Academy has the
right to suspend or disqualify Registered Teachers found to be in
contravention of this Code. |

| 4.2 | Registered Teachers
must comply with all legal obligations relevant to their country of
practice. It is not the purpose of this Code to itemize the provisions
of employment, health and safety, child protection, copyright, data
protection, equality and diversity, insurance laws in each country
of operation. |
This code will be updated periodically. It is the responsibility of the
individual Registered Teacher to ensure that s/he is informed of these amendments
and adapts her/his practices accordingly.

If an individual demonstrates behaviour or practive which is understood
to contravene the standards of behaviour expected of the profession and
the RAD (as specified in this code), s/he can be referred to the RAD in
writing. Following referral, a full investigation will be conducted, in
which the facts of the case will be considered against this Code of Conduct
and Professional Practice. Disciplinary action will be implemented at the
discretion of the RAD.
RAD Registered Teachers are responsbile for ensuring that their practices
are in full compliance with current legislation in the country of operation
and this Code of Conduct and Professional Practice.
